KATHMANDU, DECEMBER 5

Health authorities today diagnosed 200 cases of coronavirus infection in the country, including 103 in Kathmandu valley. With this, Nepal’s COV- ID caseload has reached 822,592, including 804,544 recoveries, 6,507 active cases, and 11,541 deaths.

Of those testing positive for the contagion in the valley today, 63 are from Kathmandu, 34 from Lalitpur, and six from Bhaktapur.

Of the others diagnosed with the disease today, 17 are from Kaski, eight from Chitwan, seven from Sunsari, six each from Jhapa, Morang, and Kavrepalanchowk, five each from Nawalparasi (East) and Rupandehi, four each from Dhanusha, Tanahun, and Baglung, three each from Siraha and Gorkha, two each from Dang and Banke, and one each from Khotang, Dhankuta, Bhojpur, Mahottari, Rautahat, Saptari, Sarlahi, Dolakha, Makawanpur, Syangja, Arghakhanchi, Pyuthan, Bardiya, Kanchanpur, and Kailali. As many as five people tested positive for antigens today.

According to the Ministry of Health and Population, 436 people were discharged from health centres across the country in the past 24 hours after recovering from COVID.

The number of active COV- ID cases in Kathmandu valley is 1,648 – 619 in Lalitpur, 548 in Kathmandu, and 481 in Bhaktapur. Kathmandu and Lalitpur are the only two districts in Nepal with more than 500 active COVID cases.

The ministry said 107 COV- ID patients were in intensive care with 22 in Province 1, one in Province 2, 60 in Bagmati, three in Gandaki, 16 in Lumbini, and five in Sudurpaschim.

As many as 28 of them are on ventilator support -10 in Province 1, 15 in Bagmati, one in Lumbini, and two in Sudurpaschim.
